The server “coastlab.org” provides real-time or near real-time data from COSYNA observing in-situ and remote sensing systems to the public. However, all data are provisional and have not been quality-controlled. While all due care is taken to provide accurate information, provisional data are subject to change or retraction after quality control and before official release. No warranty is made, express or implied, regarding the accuracy or validity of the data, or regarding the suitability of the data for any particular application.

Recommended guidelines for data use and publication

The co-ordinator and the principal investigators (PI) of COSYNA observing components have priority use of the data collected at systems of their responsibility. They are entitled to be informed of any other use of that site data. A list of the co-ordinator and the PI(s) can be found on the COSYNA web sites.

Although journal paper authorship and acknowledgement is the domain of the senior author and no policy is universally applicable, the COSYNA contributors ask that every practical attempt be made to honor the following general guideline:

• Please consult with the PI(s) of the data to be used.
• When publishing data from COSYNA the acknowledgements should include the following statement: “ We thank the Project/PI for its/theirs effort in establishing and maintaining (site name(s)) sites.”
• However if the COSYNA data are a principal component of the paper then co-authorship to PI's should be offered.

In case of commercial use of the data we request notification of the responsible PI(s)  or the COSYNA co-ordinator.
